Introduction
T.net, the technical computing partner of the SD@ Consortium, has been chosen for the creation of the software, the development of the cooperative platform, the network infrastructure of the Cancer Registry in Messina, Catania and Siracusa.
The RTI project was born in Catania, within the Order of Physicians and the Associazione Onlus Medici e Società, in early 2000. A specific feature of RTI is the electronic medley of the contribution of the physicians and the facilities holding the major sources, and the ability to cross these sources, thus composing a series of slices of a pie where the territorial National Health Service, represented by general practitioners (GPs) and affiliated paediatricians, may contribute to complete and validate data, as well as reconstructing, using the information coming from medical records, the diagnostic, therapeutic and follow-up course of the cancer disease. Therefore, at least for a slice of data, the National Health Service shall also represent a useful glue for the project accomplishment and a mechanism for monitoring interventions already realized (survey of treatments and interventions) and to realize (prevention).

The project is in fact composed of two portals. Through the first general information on the Integrated Cancer Registry
can be accessed publicly (staff, Ethics Code, Contacts, establishment, information, etc...), through the second, well separated from the first, the Scientific Technical Committee is entitled to:
- Insert,
- Compare
- Validate
- Filter
the database entries.

Access to the actual RTI data and their treatment is only possible through digital authentication certificate and can be made from any personal computer since it is Web Based.

After the validation of the data, updated statistics on cancers cases are published in real time in the three provinces concerned.
